All the modern details you'd expect are present. Full internal
cable routing, a tapered head tube, internal seat clamp, a scuff
guard on the chainstay in case of a dropped chain. Specialized has
also applied its Rider-First Engineering technology to the CruX, so
each size frame is specifically tuned with the carbon fibre layup
and tube profiles refined for different height and weight
There has been a gradual but noticeable shift towards 1x
drivetrains in cyclocross racing, at professional and amateur
levels. Specialized has recognised this with a full range of
1x-only CruX models.
The S-Works CruX combines Dura-Ace Di2 hydraulic brake levers
with an XTR Di2 mountain bike rear mech and 11-32t cassette. Plus
it is specced with Specialized's own S-Works Carbon Power Cranks
(the single-sided model) so you can seamlessly work power
measurement into your training and racing.
It's a compact range, just four models, with three carbon and
one aluminium version to choose from. The range is spearheaded by
the racer's favourite, the S-Works, but all the carbon frames use
the same high-grade FACT 11r carbon fibre in the construction, so
they are good starting points for upgrade projects.
If you want to build your own perfect cyclocross bike
Specialized is offering the S-Works CruX frameset in a cool Satin
Battleship/Gloss Hyper/Clean paint job.
Both the frameset and the complete bike come as standard with
special hydrophobic paint, which sheds mud much more easily, after
all the last thing you want on a bike this light is an extra layer
