Specialized Venge Pro Disc Ultegra Di2 - First Look

Specialized has added the Venge Pro to its 2019 range, a Shimano Ultegra-equipped bike that joins the range-topping S-Works model launched a couple of months ago.

The new Venge Pro costs £6,250 and packs a Shimano Ultegra Di2 groupset with hydraulic disc brakes, Roval CL50 wheels with S-Works Turbo tyres and the new Aerofly handlebar and stem.

The Venge was redesigned from the ground up, with an all-new frame that is lighter and more aero than the previous version. But the really big news was the fact it was designed entirely around disc brakes and only compatible with electronic groupsets.

The Venge Pro has the exact same 960g (size 56cm) FACT 11r carbon fibre frame as the S-Works bike and a host of other weight savings that together contribute to a 460g weight saving on the frameset module compared to the previous Venge ViAS.

There are other carryover details as well. The same Aerofly handlebar which uses a two-piece stem and bar setup so you can adjust the fit more easily, and even swap out the stem, and internal routing for the gear cables and brake hoses.

The same aero seatpost as well, with the Di2 junction box tucked in at the top of the post, right behind the saddle clamp. The seat clamp is hidden inside the top tube. There are two downtube bottle cage mount options, the lower one offering reduced drag if just running one bottle.

Being designed around disc brakes means there is space for 32mm tyres, unheard of on aero bikes from the past. The disc brakes use the 12mm thru-axle and flat mount standards.

There's also the Rider-First Engineered technology, based on 40,000 Retul data points and lots of real-world rider feedback to refine the carbon layup of each size frame to ensure the perfect ride and handling, regardless of what size you're riding.

Combine this with our bike fit expertise and you have an race-ready aero road bike that really performs (a full Bespoke bike fit is included in the purchase price, and we'll swap any contact points as required to ensure the perfect fit).
