SILCA was, for many years, owned and run by the Sacchi family in Milan. Founder Felice Sacchi was succeeded by his son Giancarlo, and he in turn by his son Claudio, making it the longest continuously-run family business in the cycling industry.
Before Claudio's death from cancer in 2013 he was keen to ensure that the SILCA legacy would be in safe hands. He chose Josh Poertner, formerly technical director at Zipp, to be the new owner.
Josh's enthusiasm for the brand is contagious, and under his stewardship SILCA continue to go from strength to strength. Relocated to the USA, SILCA benefits from being located in Indianapolis, home to the US race car industry and all it's associated technical support.
As a true enthusiast Josh ensures that replacement parts continue to be available for pumps past and present, and his wealth of experience means that this is more than just a name, this is the SILCA we all know and love, now even more secure for the future.
