The Exploro is the world's first aero adventure frame, accepting 25mm road tyres or up to 2.1in MTB tyres.

Why aero? Well, just because you're riding mixed surfaces, doesn't mean you don't want to go fast... For most of us there will be tarmac before, during or after the off-road bits, and here's where the aero comes into its own.

Off-road gravity might be your main enemy, but on the road sections aerodynamics come into play. Plus even on a steep gradient, if you're riding into a strong head or cross wind you might be moving slowly in relation to the ground, but the wind is moving fast. More aero = less resistance = better.

Go Faster - Anywhere:

An aero adventure bike? Yes, really!

3T explain:

"Why is aerodynamics important on allroad (tarmac, gravel, fire roads, single track) rides? You may go slow off-road, but on the connecting tarmac sections you need road riding speed.

If you're slow because of gradients, aero doesn't matter much. But if it's due to head- or crosswinds, you're slow relative to the ground but very fast relative to the air and that's what determines the resistance you experience (that's exactly why you're slow).

We didn't want the Exploro to be fast in theory, but in the real world. So we tested at a realistic 20mph (32kmh) instead of the standard 30mph (48kmh) and optimized the frame for water bottles (tough to do long, epic rides without).

We even designed the Sqaero shape to work well when covered in mud! The result? A muddy Exploro with 40mm knobby gravel tyres and 2 water bottles is faster than the equivalent clean round tube bike is with 28mm slick road tyres and without bottles."

Just one example of the many possible builds available

The Exploro is designed to fit road, cross and even mountain bike tyres following the GravelPlus standard. The road and cross tyres are 700c, the mountain bike tyres use the 650b size, ensuring that all of these have virtually the same overall wheel diameter and therefore the same predictable handling.

3T Exploro - Team vs Ltd:

The Exploro is available in 2 models. So what's the difference?

Well, weight. That's it really. Both bikes have the same geometry, the same design features and the same all-round ability.

The Team is the "standard" model, if you can call a bike this innovative "standard", and weighs in at a perfectly respectable 1150g. Any colour you like, as long as it's white.

The Ltd is the same frame, but with a different carbon mix and layup to shave off as much weight as possible without compromising performance - it comes in at just 950g, and is available in the black finish you see here.

Whichever you choose you'll be getting a top-performing, go-anywhere, do-anything bike, which we can supply as a frameset or build into the bike of your dreams.
