Way back in the 80s, legendary Belgian sprinter Freddy Maertens, a two-time world champion, asked ASSOS to create a heavier bibshort that he could use for tough autumn riding in Belgium.

They did, he loved them, word spread, and they went into production... The T.tiburuShorts are the direct descendents of those famed originals.

Seems like a niche product? Well, not exactly. You see autumn riding in Belgium is not that different from autumn (or indeed spring) riding elsewhere in northern Europe, and these shorts are ideally suited to those shoulder periods here in the UK.

Perfect for cooler days - if it gets really nippy just add a pair of knee or leg warmers and you've instantly got another 'season'. Like Assos's winter range these have the "Blasenschutz" protection - basically an extra layer of wind-proof, insulating fabric around your bladder region, where it's most appreciated, helping to avoid unwanted 'comfort breaks' in the cold.

The fabric too is that little bit thicker and more water repellent than their regular summer bibs, but as you'd expect from Assos it's not at all bulky and remains extremely breathable.

From the cobbles of Belgium to the hills around Belper, these bibs will ease you through that often lengthy transition from summer warmth to winter freeze.

The Bespoke view:

A genuine 'must have' bit of kit. I adore my pair; in the UK you can wear them for eight months of the year. Spring and Autumn they are great on their own, and add some leg warmers and that can be extended through early winter. Warm enough that you don't feel the cold, but not too heavy that you will regret them when the pace increases. - Barry

Size Guide:

Assos clothing is cut anatomically to fit perfectly without restricting movement when in the riding position. Bibs might pull when standing upright - this is normal.

Assos tend to be a particularly slim fit - most people find they need to go up a size from their equivalent in other brands.
