The Edge 130 might seem like a curious addition to a world of full-colour, touchscreen GPS units. But there's a lot to be said for simplicity. The 1.8in monochrome display is amazingly crisp, even in strong sunlight (it's a high tech "Memory in Pixel" display, not your traditional LCD) and battery life is up to 15 hours between charges.

It's great at picking up a signal quickly and accurately, using GPS, GLONASS and Galileo satellites to ensure the best coverage, and has a built-in altimeter so you can see not just how far and how fast you've travelled but also how much climbing you've done.

As you'd expect there's Strava connectivity built in, and you can also upload routes from Garmin Connect to get full turn-by-turn directions.

There's no need to trade clarity and simplicity for powerful functionality - the Edge 130 strikes the best balance we've seen between compactness and usefulness.

The Edge 130 also features Smart Notifications, so by linking it with your phone it can also display text messages on-screen, as well as weather info.

Naturally it's also compatible with Power Meters and will display/log power info from ANT+ compatible systems, including Garmin's own Vector pedals.

At just 4.1 x 6.3 x 1.6 cm and weighing 33g the Edge 130 is significantly more compact than it's bigger brothers, making it an ideal choice for riders who want a reliable, easy to use GPS that logs all the vital data without any unnecessary bells and whistles.
