The multi-tool has become an essential part of every cyclist's
"daily carry" arsenal over the past couple of decades, and has
naturally evolved alongside the components it serves. Torx bolts,
smaller hex bolts, all have had an impact on the type and range of
tools we need to carry.
One area that, surprisingly, hasn't seen much development is in
the care of carbon frames and components. Correct torque settings
are all-important here, as over-tightening can cause serious (and
expensive) damage, but under-tightening is just as dangerous. The
days of heavy steel components and adjusting by "feel" alone are
long gone, even for the most experienced mechanic.
Many of us have a torque wrench in our garage toolbox, or even a
pre-adjusted torque key, but few of us want to lug them around with
us day-to-day. If you don't already own an adjustable torque wrench
it can seem a big investment for a "single application" tool -
accurate, reliable ones are never cheap. But factor in the
multi-tool functions, and this little outfit is actually remarkably
good value for money (and very well engineered).
The bits are the international standard size, so you can use any
existing 1/4in bit sets you may already own with it too.
Originally a hugely successful Kickstarter venture, Silca have
now made the T-Ratchet and Ti-Torque available for everyone, and
we're really pleased to be able to offer it to you here.
