Colnago E64

Overview

This is a Colnago with a difference, but one that might not be noticeable at first glance. The E64 has the distinctive shape of a C64, but this is an e-bike. Sacrilege to some, but to the more pragmatic it's a welcome addition to the Colnago range.

By using a hub-based system Colnago have been able to build a bike that looks remarkably 'normal' and adds just 3.5kg to the total weight (and meaning there's no additional drag, even when the motor is turned off).

This is not a bike that's intended to make you lazy, rather think of it as a range extender. The assistance available sees peak performance between 15 and 25kph, with 250w of power on tap.

e-Bikes can sometimes look a bit, well, ugly - this certainly isn't one of those. I'm a big fan of things looking like what they are, and an e-Bike has nothing to be ashamed of, but there's an elegance to the classic frame shape that is undeniably attractive. The only oddity is in the paint scheme - this is a monocoque frame, not lugged, despite what the paint panels might suggest.
