Moots Baxter 29er

Overview

The Moots Baxter 29er is an unusual frame. It's specifically aimed at longhaul riding on deep gravel, rough tracks and adventure, effectively a 29er MTB meets drop bar all-road bike.

This build was specifically designed around an unsupported, largely off-road, bikepacking trip traversing the Pyrenees. The addition of the Fox 32 XC fork, with 100mm of travel, adds some extra off road versatility. The wide Salsa Woodchipper 2 bars have huge amount of flare for extra control on all terrain types.

What isn't unusual with this Moots build is the incredible quality and precision engineering that goes into every Moots frame. The welds are perfect. This customer opted for the etched logos, which had some nice texture, and the engraved headbadge. When attaching bar bags to haul your kit, that's a smart move which will reduce friction between the frame and the bag. There's also a third set of water bottle mounts on the underside of the downtube.

With the lightweight frame and the low 1.3kg of the fork, this theme dominates and the ENVE M50 rims to DT Swiss 240 hubs don't tip the scales. Choosing 1x for the groupset keeps things light and low maintenance.

This is a truly unusual build, but perfectly fitted with spec to match for it's upcoming adventure, the first of many to come. Come and see us about your own Moots adventure machine.
